baby raccoon being fed volunteer

The following are the volunteer opportunities currently available with Wild Forever.

For all positions, or more information, please contact Wild Forever at: (719) 475-9453

NOTE: The minimum age requirement for all volunteers is 18 years old.

TELEPHONE HOTLINE: Black squirrel
WFF has immediate openings in our Volunteer Phone Assistance (VPA) program. People answering the phones respond to phone calls from people needing immediate assistance with injured or abandoned wildlife.
Positions are available 7 days a week in 4 to 6 hour shifts.

VPA volunteers provide a vital service to the citizens and wildlife of the Pikes Peak Region.
Persons answering the phone would obtain information about the situation, and with guidance and gained experience, decide whether it is appropriate to rescue the animal. This person should be comfortable handling emergency situations.
Answering the phone can be done at your own home, by using your cell phone or while manning the front desk in the WFF office.
The WFF team will provide training.

For more information or to request an application, please call 719.475.WILD (9453) or email wildforever@wildforever.org

ANIMAL CARE POSITIONS: Black squirrel
IMPORTANT: When you volunteer to help wildlife they will be depending on you. This is a commitment that you will be making to the animals - to protect them, to shelter them, to feed them, to provide tools so that they might learn skills essential to survival, etc. You are the temporary parent and you MUST be there. It is a very important job and an opportunity that you will not find anywhere else.
Transport Team Runners:

As part of the Division of Wildlife Transport Team, these people will respond to calls received by the Telephone Response Team. They will also be asked to transport animals between the veterinarians and rehabilitators for assessment, treatment, and follow-up exams.

OTHER WILD FOREVER POSITIONS: Longs Peak
Promotions and Fundraising Volunteers:

Wild Forever needs people to help man booths at local events. These people would explain what we do, hand out educational materials and sell our t-shirts and hats.
(Does anyone have a 6-foot rabbit costume?)
Public Relations:

Wild Forever needs someone to help distribute information about Wild Forever and its mission to the public and media.
Journalists and Newsletter Aide:

Wild Forever needs well organized individuals who can collect, review/write articles for the quarterly newsletter. This could involve some interviews. These people would work with our staff, board members and our publisher to coordinate newsletter content.
Newsletter Aide: WFF distributes four newsletters a year and we are seeking a second journalist to assist with writing and editing articles. Please call for details.
